Lino printing
I set a summer challenge for myself. Its hard to get any focused work done over the school holidays so I set myself a little extra task to keep my brain active and also allow myself the chance to make mistakes. I haven’t done a Lino cut for many years - its not a style I feel comfortable with as I feel my designs always look cartoony but I wanted to have a go and see what happened.
Teaching Joe etching
Half terms are always a struggle - finding the balance of chilling out and keeping active - and for us this year it is keeping Joe off the computer - if he had his own way he would be on 14 hours a day - admittedly playing with friends, communicating and team work but its not climbing a tree and that all we can relate too therefore computers are bad and trees are good! To give him credit he will happily come off computer and do things with us we just have to instigate it and then he will enjoy whatever we have planned nd give his all attention to it so I cant complain really .
Making of the Gathering of sparrows
My work has focused on sparrows for the last year and I particularly love coming up with compositions that are filled with a jumble of sparrows all squished together, as that is what they do, you never see a single sparrow always a flock of them always shouting and quarrelling.
Barn owl
I have always wanted to create a collection of British owl prints - I have a plan to work my way through all the indigenous owls and create a dynamic print of each. I chose a classic barn owl pose for this piece- seated on a fence post surveying the field for his prey.
Storey exhibition & hospital dramas
This project was a culmination of a whole years work. In November 2017 - 4 artists got together and set a date 1 year in advance and worked slowly towards a group show.
Shop windows 2017 - 2018
Over the years Arteria has supported me I have had many solo window displays of work - each time I make my son Joe come and give his opinion and thumbs up if he approves!
