I set a summer challenge for myself. Its hard to get any focused work done over the school holidays so I set myself a little extra task to keep my brain active and also allow myself the chance to make mistakes.  I haven’t done a Lino cut for many years - its not a style I feel comfortable with as I feel my designs always look cartoony but I wanted to have a go and see what happened.

Of course I went massive straight away - why start small!? - oh yeah because its easier and more practical - well of course I wont do that then!

I spent a while drawing out the composition and trying to get a balanced design, the cutting of the Lino was very cathartic and I spent an entire evening till gone midnight cutting and watching Orange is the new black in the studio.

The results are cool but I feel a little under developed - I plan to working into the block again and then produce a small edition.

Maybe next time Ill start smaller and explore more the design a bit more before rushing into a final cut!
